Effective Potential of O(N) Linear Sigma Model at Finite Temperature

We study the O(N) symmetric linear sigma model at finite temperature as the low-energy effective models of quantum chromodynamics(QCD) using the CornwallJackiw-Tomboulis(CJT) effective action for composite operators. It has so far been claimed that the Nambu-Goldstone theorem is not satisfied at finite temperature in this framework unless the large N limit in the O(N) symmetry is taken. We show...

Linear density response in the random phase approximation for confined Bose vapours at finite temperature

A linear response framework is set up for the evaluation of collective excitations in a confined vapour of interacting Bose atoms at finite temperature. Focusing on the currently relevant case of contact interactions between the atoms, the theory is developed within a random phase approximation with exchange. This approach is naturally introduced in a two-fluid description by expressing the den...

Dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates at finite temperature

We study a Bose-Einstein condensate of a dilute gas with dipolar interactions, at finite temperature, using the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory within the Popov approximation. An additional approximation involving the dipolar exchange interaction is made to facilitate the computation. We calculate the temperature dependence of the condensate fraction of a condensate confined in a cylindrically s...

Bulk and single-particle properties of hyperonic matter at finite temperature

Bulk and single-particle properties of hot hyperonic matter are studied within the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock approximation extended to finite temperature. The bare interaction in the nucleon sector is the Argonne V18 potential supplemented with an effective three-body force to reproduce the saturating properties of nuclear matter. The modern Nijmegen NSC97e potential is employed for the hyperon-nu...

Exact random phase approximation equation at finite temperature and entropy effect

An extended form of the thermal random phase approximation (ETRPA) equation is derived by applying the variational principle to the grand potential with an entropy term. The ETRPA equation is exact within a framework of the random phase approximation (RPA) at finite temperature. The ETRPA equation is expressed in terms of the ETRPA matrix which coincides with the stability matrix for the soluti...
